Paint "A" Event

"I loved this 'Paint a Pig' contest and am so happy and surprised to be a winner" as stated by one of over 130 people who entered the contest hosted by the Alton Centennial Rotary Club in 2016 to raise money for Meals on Wheels.  In 2017, It was 'Paint a Butterfly', again another successful fundraiser this time for Central NH VNA Hospice.  It's now established that the club will continue with it's annual 'Paint a ???' (icon to be decided later) fundraiser for local charities every year.  Rotarian and 2018 Chair for the club's next contest, Duane Hammond, says; "this is one of the many fundraisers we will continue that's just plain fun.  We make a large plywood cut-out of an iconic animal animal, bird, fish, or a easily recognizable subject and sell them at a very reasonable price to anyone, students and adults, who want to paint and display their creative talent for a chance to win cash and trophies".  Included in the contest is a public display of all the entries at the B&M Railroad Park and a free cake and ice cream bash. All of the entries are judged by a group of 3 professional artists to pick winners in both the student and adult categories.  Some of the contestants donated their entry to a Silent Auction, and donated the money to charity.  The contest begins in the late spring and continues through mid-August, as part of 'Alton's Annual Old Home Week'  celebration.  For more information contact: Duane@metrocast.net or call 603.569.3745
